Well friend, it’s been a while since we’ve spoken. Life has been lifin’ in some of the best and worst ways. Breaking generational curses is not for the weak, but I will always find my way back to these pages.
What’s new?
What do you have in store for 2024?
If you haven’t heard already, I am adding a new podcast to the rotation. I experimented with it a few years back, and now God is nudging me to truly dive in. So here it is.
It’s imperfect, but it’s a start! My goal right now is to follow God’s voice without hesitation and to be consistent with everything I put my hands to. If you’ve been following me for a while now, you will recognize the name.
Yep! PGP is back!
For those who don’t know, I created an online community back in 2019 with a goal to unite women in business intentionally. I called it Power Grace Purpose. And quite frankly, I did just that. I was able to connect with women across the nation, learn and share about them and their businesses, and even facilitate connections within the community.
I honestly cannot tell you why everything came to a halt other than overwhelm and personal defeat. As a person who often battles with perfectionism and impatience, I can sometimes get in my own way. The enemy tends to distract me in that way and I get off track. BUT, as stated earlier, I always find my way back. There is entirely too much at stake. Can you relate?
After much back and forth regarding the title of this new podcast, I landed back on PGP. The message still stands and always will. Each episode will be created to remind you that you have POWER within, GRACE abounding and PURPOSE resounding. YOU ARE THAT GIRL! Guys too if you’re here! =)
Breaking Generational Curses
As I was prepping for the podcast, I remembered that I previously recorded a pilot episode back in 2021! I decided to listen to it and, afterwards, felt that it was still worthy of sharing. There were a few tangents in it and some outdated information, but the core message was still the same. And if you haven’t figured the message out already, the message is that you’re doing a great job!
I was led in the episode to discuss generational curses and how millennials especially are impacted greatly when it comes to this topic. Often times, instead of approaching life with pride and gratefulness, we approach it from a place of LACK. We often feel like we have to do more. And if WE don’t do it, it won’t get done. That simply isn’t true.
I will say it’s been a journey for me to navigate these “generational curses.” I’ve been the one to do a lot “firsts” in my family and, after while, it becomes natural to carry the weight of needing to lead the charge. Once one thing is accomplished, you’re compelled to go after something else….. Rarely taking the time to bask in the greatness of what just came to pass.
In most of our cases, not only are we the first to reach certain goals, but we’re also minorities. And women! These factors add a lot of pressure and non-tangible battles to fight. In the black community specifically, there’s an unspoken expectation to always be on top. As representatives of the whole community, we have to get it right! At least that’s how it feels…
All of these factors can weigh on us and make us feel like we aren’t measuring up. But I want to encourage you to change your perspective about the many wonderful things you’ve accomplished.
Let what you’ve done be your fuel.
As you move forward in the continuance of your purposeful journey, let all that you’ve done inspire you. In many cases we’re encouraged never to look back, but in this case, I’d say it’s necessary. Yes, there’s a lot of great ahead. And sure, we don’t want to repeat the not so great things. However, there’s a lot of great back there too. You didn’t get where you are by doing all bad. Remember where you came from.
Until next time friend,
